Capitals and Kilts Across America
8th May 2008
The Futurity Partnership Edinburgh Capitals are pleased to announce its partnership with Kilts Across America. Kilts Across America is a charity that is raising money to fight Moebius. To find out more about Moebius, go to www.moebiusresearchtrust.org. The charity is a fantastic one for the Capitals to be involved with during the off-season. Doug Christiansen met with the founders of the trust during the season and was thrilled to hear that they would be riding Harley Davidson motorcycles across his native country. The long journey for Colin Read and Iain Whyte starts at the Castle in Edinburgh and is venturing across the Atlantic Ocean on Continental Airlines and ending in Los Angeles.
Once in the United States, Iain and Colin, will be wearing Kilts on their Harley's. Rain or shine, they will be covered with their native tartans. On their Kilts will be the Edinburgh Capitals logo.
"When I met Colin and Iain, I loved their idea. I was thrilled that they were using Harley's. Milwaukee is my home and its also the home of Harley and having been in Edinburgh all year, I could not think of a better thing for the Capitals to be apart of. Colin and Iain have a fantastic goal and they were a pleasure to meet. I told them they are crazy. 10 days across the USA ring a Kilt? They are going to be some sore men! I give them a ton of credit.
We as pro athletes take a lot for granted. When you see conditions that effect others, especially children, I think it is important for us to give back and use our power for a greater good. I just wish they were passing through Milwaukee so I could give them a better welcome!"
